"Costas Douradas" is going to be the 8th album-sized project of Budapest-based beatmaker don C, which will also feature some of his good friends such as the rapper Co Lee, and the producers BluntOne and TAT. Back in the days when don was still a little kid, he passionately fell in love with playing soccer. He often watched games on TV with his daddy, and they were both amazed by the skills and artistic playfulness of the national team Brazil. Most of the time when little don played soccer, he was wearing his yellow-blue-green jersey of Ronaldo. That's how his obsession with Brazil began.

These 20 beats are an ode to Brazilian music. It features some carefully crafted, yet minimalistic loüfi / hip-hop instrumentals with the essence of bossa-nova, Latin & Brazilian jazz. The two main instruments that were used during the album's creation are the AKAI MPC2000xl and the SP404.samplers.

The project also tells a little story of an imaginary journey navigating the listeners through the Amazon rainforest to the shores of Rio de Janeiro, while experiencing the wonders of nature and Brazilian wildlife.

"they come for us" is my favorite track to write to and beatbox to on this album but all the tracks are hella clean and reminds me of my one trip to NY and taking the subway and seeing all the graf writing everywhere and handing random CD mixes that I made to random people back in 2002. mike flips. Oh mike flips. You do compose a perfect mixture of break beat chaos with melodical grind bass. This is both relaxing and groovin' at the same time. Harks back to the 90s sample scene, yet has a new vibrant feel. I got the tape version as well, just to feel closer to the sounds. Rich H
